Hello Mr. Hansen! There is an eco-friendly company called Eco-Products that has really intrigued me. Below is an analysis of the company and if it would be worth it to invest in.

The Triple Bottom Line is a term used to describe a holistic way of using a business. In society, many companies are only fixated on generating the most profit. However, the companies that make the world a better place are focused on being socially, environmentally, and financially successful companies which exactly what the Triple Bottom Line stands for.

Corporate Social Responsibility

This term essentially means that it is a company’s obligation to follow the Triple Bottom Line and create a company that is not just about financial success, but also is focused on being helpful to the environmental and has a socially positive impact on the world. If companies are not held responsible for their social actions, it will affect the people of the world and the environment in a catastrophic way.

Social Enterprise

A Social Enterprise is a company that is a company that is successfully taking on its Corporate Social Responsibility and is being socially, environmentally, and financially successful. The success of the company makes the world a better place all-around.

Carbon Footprint

The Carbon Footprint is the measurement of how much greenhouse gases are being emitted into the atmosphere by a company. It is essential to lower our Carbon Footprint because greenhouses gases being emitted into the atmosphere create Global Warming. We are investing in the future of our planet by reducing our Carbon Footprint.

Eco-Products Background

Eco-Products is the brand leader in environmentally friendly foodservice packages. It was founded in 1990 and is located in Boulder, Colorado with a net-zero electricity consumption there. Eco-Products is a Zero Waste company and has the B Corp certification. The company has generated over $200 million dollars in revenue in 2020 and has more than 500 unique food packaging products. The firm also requires diversity training, and they make a large effort to hiring employees from underrepresented groups.

B Corporation

B Corporation is a Third-Party Company that essentially rates companies on the Triple Bottom Line. The average score B Corp gives out is 50.9 and Eco-Products received a score of 82.6 which passes the threshold of 80 to receive certification. Overall, it scored very high in all major categories (Governance, Workers, Community, and Community) and especially in Environment. Overall, the Community section seemed to be the lowest-scoring section, but I think this is likely because they do not have a lot of facilities and they are a fairly new and small company (only 67 employees). I think they will improve on this as they grow in the future and expand their market and locations.

USDA Biopreferred

USDA Biopreferred is a program that rates and certifies products using metrics of having renewable resources, helping the carbon cycle, and other factors that lead to an environmentally friendly product. Based on their ratings, Eco-Products have the following items approved: multiple cups, straws, paper containers, deli containers, plates, bowls, lids, and many other products. Overall, it appears that Eco-Products is truly telling the truth about its products.

Should you invest?

I think Eco-Products is a company that should be invested in. It is a Social Enterprise which follows the Triple Bottom Line. It has diversity training and makes efforts to hire underrepresented minorities, it is a Zero Waste company that has B corp certification, and its business plan is very successful with hundreds of millions in sales. All the industry experts rave about the product and I think it will be excellent for AMDP.

      I agree with Raigan, I am a little confused as to what this company actually does. I understand that it is beneficial for the environment but I'm not sure what services it offers exactly

As the basketball playoffs are intensifying, I would like to give a breakdown of where the teams currently stand and what my predictions for the future will be. To recap, the Milwaukee Bucks and the Atlanta Hawks are playing in the Eastern Conference Finals and the Los Angeles Clippers and Phoenix Suns are playing in the Western Conference Finals.
